Crime-Related Cultural Intersections of Vulnerable Youth Populations

Thursday, February 20, 2025
3:00 pm5:00 pm

In the process of better understanding individual, community, and historical trauma, many service providers want to gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between trauma and culture to provide more culturally appropriate services to youth. Understanding cultural competency, cultural humility, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed practices can enhance service provision for those identified within the spectrum of vulnerable populations.
As a result of this two-part training, participants will be able to:
• Define cultural responsiveness and how this approach helps identify needs and provide services to individuals from youth in diverse cultures.
• Identify two strategies to practice cultural humility when engaged with youth victims/survivors that are respectful and trauma-informed.
• List two strategies to incorporate cultural responsiveness into agency practices.
