ACEs, PCEs: The Impact on Family Health

As the field of Substance Use Disorder treatment has progressed, the realization of the issues related to trauma and the need for the field to incorporate trauma informed care has grown. This is for the person experiencing SUDs and the family and friends related to them. The research on trauma has shown the traumatic events to be a risk indicator for SUDs with families and the youth experiencing the chaos. The workshop will take participants on a journey to explore the Adverse Childhood Experiences and the impact they may have on development and family relationships. As the substance use and mental health issues created by ACEs evolve, strategies for trauma informed care are important in addressing resiliency and for prevention efforts moving forward. CASA volunteers may be a very positive support for addressing and providing a positive environment using evidence based tools based in the Positive Childhood Experiences research. Join us!!
