Self-Care Tools for High-Impact Care Teams

Wednesday, August 26, 2026
12:00 pm1:30 pm

Participants will learn practical, body-based self-care strategies to reduce stress and recover more quickly during work and at home. The session includes quick nervous system reset techniques—such as breathing, posture, movement, and micro-recovery practices—that can also be adapted for clients and families. We'll also address burnout risks and explore simple team habits that support long-term well-being.

Participants will:
1. Identify common ways stress, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress show up in the body, including fight, flight, fawn, and freeze responses in high-impact care work.
2. Practice real-time somatic tools—including breath, posture, orienting, grounding, resistance, and movement-based strategies—to support regulation during work, in the field, and after difficult interactions.
3. Create a practical self-care plan for before, during, and after hard moments, using body-based tools that can support recovery, reduce stress load, and increase sustainability in caregiving roles.
